Building Regulations

An increasingly wide range of building work requires consent under the Building Regulations, which are themselves becoming more complex and far-reaching. The preparation of detailed drawings for submission to local authorities is a core service and something we undertake on almost all our building projects.

In some cases a Building Notice will suffice – and we will deal with this for you – but it is generally better to have fully detailed drawings prepared, submitted and approved before works commence. This reduces the risk of the proposed design having to be amended to comply with the requirements of the building control officer during his or her site inspections.

We will also procure for you any structural calculations which may be required, together with thermal insulation calculations and assessments.

Where the work involves a listed building there is some scope for varying the application of the regulations, to protect the character of the listed building. We have a great deal of experience of negotiating such relaxations with building control officers and conservation officers.
